Farmers are also supported in complying with the law and will be given a waste transfer note for all waste collected or delivered. A1 Supaskips will liaise with the environment agency to ensure that farmers are made aware in any changes in legislation.

Skip Hire Permits

If your skip is to be place on the highway you may require a permit from the Local authority. Our staff at A1 Supaskips (think pink!) will be happy to advise you, and make all the necessary applications to the relevant authorities in order to meet the requirements of the Highways Act 1980

What can't I put in my skip?

Certain materials, such as asbestos, oil, printing inks, solvents, chemicals, clinical
waste, electrical or electronic equipment (WEEE) have been classified as hazardous
waste, requiring specialised removal and disposal routes, and are not to be placed in the skip.

Examples of waste products that need specialist removal:

Knocking down an old garage or removing old asbestos drain pipes? Asbestos is hazardous. Dont get caught illegally disposing of hazardous waste.

A1 Supaskips (thinkpink) can transport and dispose of your asbestos quickly, safely and professionally, providing you follow the necessary requirement.

1. The asbestos must be wrapped in visqueen and taped prior to been placed in the skip.
2. The site must be registered with the envirioment agency as a site producing hazardous waste, even householders need to register, which can be done on line environment agency

Asbestos cement sheeting

Asbestos cement sheeting is commonly found as grey corrugated or flat sheets. It is thin and brittle and produces a clean edge when broken. Asbestos fibres are released when the cement sheeting becomes broken or is drilled, sawn, scrubbed or sanded.

Other types of asbestos products, that tend to be found in the home, include insulation board, asbestolux plasterboard, and insulation surrounding warm air heating systems.

Handling and removing Asbestos  

Ensure you have the following items to hand:

• Strong polythene and parcel tape
• White disposable overalls to wear during the operation – available from good DIY outlets
• Disposable dust mask suitable for work with asbestos (Certified to EN149 or EN405 Protection Factor FFP3) -available from good DIY outlets
• A hose and a supply of water

A1 Supaskips (think pink!) have introduced a new air conditioned, covered enclosure for the picking lines inside their plant at Lune Industrial Estate. The welfare of the staff is a major priority and concern for the company. With the new enclosures around the picking lines, not only has the company produced a much cleaner working environment for their employees, they have also greatly reduced the noise levels as well.

"Obviously working with waste is never going to be the nicest job in the world, but the company has taken every step possible to make the working environment inside the plant as good as it can be.
